During the [[Assault on Black Reach]] in 855 [[M41]]<sup id="fn_1b_back">[[#fn_1b|[1b]]]</sup>, the Shield Bearers were deployed to [[Black Reach]] with the rest of the Second Company against [[Waaagh!]] [[Zanzag]]. As one of Sicarius's most fervent admirers<sup id="fn_2a_back">[[#fn_2a|[2a]]]</sup>, Manorian was wounded when Sicarius ordered him and Tactical Squad [[Iulus Fennion|Fennion]], along with [[Devastator Squad]] [[Tirian]] to garrison the newly-liberated Ghospora Hive against a possible counter-attack, while the rest of the Company was tasked to hunt down Zanzag.
Sergeant Fennion noted that Manorian held himself aloof from the native defenders of Ghospora Hive, possibly out of sullenness, and possibly out of the natural disdain felt by many [[Space Marine]]s towards ordinary humans<sup id="fn_2b_back">[[#fn_2b|[2b]]]</sup>.
