This is a list of the chapters named by Games Workshop in official texts, and does not include any "home grown" chapters, though it does include the [[Chaos Space Marines|Chaos Marine]] Legions and [[Renegade chapters]].
It should be noted, however, that Traitor forces may vary tremendously in size and composition compared to the Loyalist Chapters - the original Traitor Legions may comprise many thousands of troops, whilst some Chaos Warbands may only have a hundred or so members.
NOTE: This list includes 251 Loyal Chapters, discounting destroyed or missing chapters, which leaves another 749, give or take a few, unnamed.
