The '''Vampire Raider''' is a large [[Eldar]] aircraft used in a similar way to the [[Thunderhawk Transporter]]. A favored weapon of [[Eldar Corsair]]'s, it is used to move troops from orbit to the ground and is quite heavily armed, enabling it to fulfil the roll of rapid response unit. It has [[Pulse Laser]]s, [[Scatter Lasers]], [[Phoenix Missile Launcher]]s and [[Pulsar]]s of varying design but can also carry large numbers of up to 30 troops at once. It The Vampire Raider can also be attached with gravitic hooks which can lock onto [[Falcon]] or [[Wave Serpent]] vehicles, allowing the Vampire to transport them into battle as well. To ensure protection from enemy fire it is also fitted protected with Eldar Titan sophisticated energy shields and [[Holo-fields]].<sup>1-p60</sup><sup>2</sup>
Like most Eldar aircraft such as the [[Nightwing]], the Vampire Raider is capable of operating in the vacuum of space just as well as the atmosphere and thus Vampire Raiders are used as the primary transport for Eldar assault forces descending from orbit.<sup>1b</sup>
