Engaged  The origin of the Annihilator was borne out of necessity, during the [[Skarath Crusade]] in a war with [[M36]]. A [[Space Wolves]] [[Great Company]] found themselves surrounded by [[Chaos Space MarinesMarine | Traitor Legion]]forces, they were unable to get bring their lascannons into range [[Lascannon | Lascannons]] to bear on superior numbers of the enemy tanksand [[Chaos Dreadnought | Chaos Dreadnoughts]], due to not without suffering considerable damage from the hail of fire the enemy was able to lay down. To counter this, the Long Fangs and [[Iron Priest]]s ripped the [[Autocannon | Autocannons]] out of their [[Predator]] tanks, and replaced them with the Long Fang's [[Lascannon]]sLascannons. The protection afforded to them by the tanks ' armoured hull, hulls enabled the Long Fangs to get within range of the enemy tanksarmour, and to eventually destroy them. ^1a The [[Adeptus Mechanicus]] was dismayed that their precious [[STC]] tanks had been modified, but soon has since approved of the modifications^1b, and other chapters started following suitnot long after, replacing retro-fitting some of their [[Predator Destructor| Predator Destructors']]s, weapons armament with lascannonLascannons. So was born, Thus the Annihilatorvariant had come to pass, and it continues to serve as the main space marine [[Space Marine | Space Marine]] anti-vehicle tank.
