A shoota fires either massive bullets or explosive shells, or even a mixture of both. As is the case with most Ork weapons, it is crude but effective weapon. Shootas considered good if they fire a burst of shots at once and make a lot of noize. Noize is important, as many Orks beleive that the louder a weapon is, the better damage and range it has. Orks enjoying shooting often acquire Shootas and form up mobs of Shoota Boys.

Because of [[Mekboy|Mekboys]]' constant struggle to outdo each other, shootas may vary in appearance, but they usually have comparable performance, unless received a 'kustom job' from a particularly inventive Mekboy.
