The Relic Blades are almost the equivalent of [[Artificer Armour]] for [[Power Weapons]]. Many were constructed during and just Only after a Space Marine has proven himself may they be given the [[Horus Heresy]]right to carry a Relic Blade into battle. therefore only a {{Fn|1}} Among these are [[Space MarineHonour Guard]] of great and faultless service may wield one. They provide a strength bonus that is not s, as great well as a certain [[Power FistsVanguard Veteran]] but makes up for it by being faster than the unwieldy s and [[Power FistSpace Marine Captain|Captains]].  Perhaps the most famous example of a Relic Blades are only used by Blade is [[Space MarinesThe Spear of Vulkan]], the most famous being currently carried by [[Vulkan He'stan]] with [[The Spear of Vulkan]] which is actually a highly ornate and well crafted Relic Blade. [[Honour Guard]] use Relic Blades the most (in some instance whole squads wielding them), due to their long and distinguished military careers. Certain [[Vanguard VeteransSalamanders]] and [[Captains]] have also managed to earn the right wield a Relic Blade.
