Since its discovery, the [[Boros system|BorosSystem]] has been heavily fortified and staunchly defended by the Imperium thanks to the strategic value of the stable wormholes that directly link it into the [[warp]]. For ten thousand years, the forces of [[Chaos]] have attempted to take control of the system, but every invasion had been repulsed until a massive force of [[Word Bearers]] assaulted and nearly conquered the system at some point in M41.
