The '''Excruciator''' is a small torture device used by the [[Inquisition]] and others. It is a collapsible, and thus portable "torture rack", described as a small black box, from which protrude many hundreds of fine wires. Placed against the skin, these extend deep within the unfortunate subject's nervous system, enabling the operator to control the individual's emotions and state of mind.{{Fn|1}} With a little fine tuning, it can inflict the most agonizing pain without necessarily causing physical damage.{{Fn|2}}
