Their origins have been largely lost though it is believed by some that their ancestry is traced to Angevin's closest adviser who in turn is said to have originated from a distant Scholastia in the Segmentum Solar. However, others are quick to claim that it was Drusus who founded the Templar Calix so that they could serve as his bodyguards after his death at Maccabeus Quintus. Regardless of their origin, the training of these Psykana Templar has remained the same; the focusing of their psychic abilities that worked in tandem within their close combat skills. A member of the Templar Calix is self-disciplined, possesses the mysticism of the psyker, has loyalty to the Golden Throne and are intensely trained in both armed and unarmed combat. This later training ranged from pure brute force techniques to more complex manoeuvres that are commonly seen amongst assassins. In addition, they are also taught defensive arts and trained to make use of their agility in combat situations. Whilst they are taught to make use of all sorts of weaponry, the signature armament used by the Templar Calix are force weapons which allow the Templar to channel their own energies into destructive attacks.
Though few in number compared to their fellow Orders of Sanctioned Psykers, the Templar Calix are always in high demand with many commanders prizing Psykana Templar as bodyguards. Whilst this is their typical role, a less common one is their deployment in full scale conflicts where they are usually placed together in small groups. Their capabilities are also greatly sought by many members of the Inquisition with it being said that the Grand Master of the Ordo Calixis being said to be guarded by a telekinetic swordsman known as Shade.1
