The Wolves' tradition states that the Helm was fashioned by the [[Emperor]]'s artificers and given to the [[Primarch]]. A [[Space Wolf]] wearing the Helm inspires fear into their enemies on the battlefield.{{Fn|2}}
Every one hundred years champions from each of the chapter's [[Great Companies]] compete in a series of increasingly dangerous contests to decide which company gets to use the helm.
