On the ice moon of Ixus IX, the ''Bloodlords'' were caught in a trap by the [[Necrons]]. Thinking they would be slaughtering an Imperial outpost, the warband is surprised when they find the outpost deserted and filled with Necron warriors.{{Fn|2}} In a fit of bloodlust, Navarch Ladon, the captain of the ''Bloodhammer'', crashes the ship into the planet and unleashes the [[Lord of Skulls]] being kept within the ship's hold.{{Fn|2a}}
