The Hall of Judgement is the holy sanctum of the Adeptus Arbites on [Judge[Terra]]s, the agents of a law that is absolute and unforgiving. 2  In the Imperium, law and government are indistinguishable. Rebellion and failure are crimes, and any transgression of the Imperial Will meets with swift and uncompromising retribution. The Hall of Judgment contains the complete Book of Judgement of the Lex Imperialis. Volume upon leather-bound volume sits upon rows of iron shelves that fill its walls. Every row is of the Hall home to ten thousand tomes. Shelves are stacked volumes, the shelves soaring a hundred meters above metres up towards the vaulted ceilings􀀎 Over the ages, the Hall has been expanded and extended many times, so thatit is now an entire complex covering many acres, with milesof corridors, levels, and rooms􀀎 Scholars, scribes, and law lordspace the time-worn floor of marble floors, while above their heads,on the antique marble. Upon narrow gantries and ladders crawl that cover the tiny ant-shelf stackslike figures of a spider’s web, crawl legal assistants as they search amidst and low-rankingfunctionaries, searching through the debris detritus of judgementforweeks and months at a time to find just a single reference􀀎.2 Every Adeptus Arbites Judge, at some point in his career, attempts a pilgrimage to the Hall of Judgement, there to studythe full intricacies of the law􀀎 Many spend long years there, forthe most heinous, subtle, or far-reaching crimes often require alengthy process of research to pass judgement􀀎.12
