Drone sentry turrets are used in many different tactics circumstances – dropped ahead of a Tau force to ambush advancing enemy units and scouts{{Fn|21}} or as part of the defensive perimeter{{Fn|11}} for defending command posts, supply dumps or airfields.{{Fn|21}}
In some cases Drone Sentry Turret can also be strengthened by a [[Shield generator]].{{Fn|21}}
