The armour was designed to augment Mortarion's own singular physiology and environmental needs; by synthesizing the air he breathed, with trace elements of the poisonous vapours found on his [[Homeworld]] [[Barbarus]]{{Fn|1}}. Even after ascending to [[Daemonhood]], Mortarion still wore the Barbaran Plate and continues to do so ten millenia later in the [[Thirteenth Black Crusade]].{{Fn|12}}
