The [[ChaosSpace Marine]] invaders are intent s launched boarding craft attacks on reaching the Orbital Stations guarding the entrance to the [[Startide Nexus]], which is located within the Atoll and serves as a stable dimensional pathway between it the Atoll and the T'au Tau Empireproper. The shocked Tau responded with remarkable speed, destroying many vessels but were overwhelmed by the sheer numbers. The T'auDeath Guard were able to board the stations, and a vicious melee battle erupted.{{Fn|1}} The Tau's forces within the Nem'yar Atoll are led by [[Tau Commander|Commander]] [[Shadowsun]], and she is now leading them in a desperate battle to stop the Death Guard from reaching the Startide Nexus, as well as the heartlands of the T'au Tau Empire. Many thousands of Tau are sacrificing themselves to prevent the Nexus from falling.{{Fn|1}}
