The '''{{PAGENAME}}''' is a [[Armiger Pattern Knight|Armiger-class]] [[Imperial Knight]], that acts as fast-moving, close-ranged fire support for larger Knights.{{Fn|1}}
It is armed ==Overview==Nimble and responsive, Armiger Warglaives leap towards theenemy with a powerful strides. On one arm they wield fearsome[[Reaper Chainsword]]. On the other arm they bear menacing[[Thermal SpearSpears]], bulky [[melta]] weapons that are essentially strippeddown equivalents of the [[Knight Errant]]’s [[Reaper Chainswordthermal cannon]]. Asingle shot from such a weapon can vaporise even the mostheavily protected combatant, melt through the wall of a bunkeror reduce a battle tank to a molten wreck. Atop their carapace, each Warglaive also carries a heavy stubber for reaping infantry, or else a meltagun that augments their already fearsomeanti-armor capabilities.{{Fn|3}} Though they are the lightest class of Imperial Knightregularly deployed, each Armiger is still an imposing war engine capable ofdestroying entire squads. They possess exceptional speed, able to outpace most battle tanks and transport vehicleswhen moving at a sprint and react almost as quicklyas an organic warrior. Moreover, to compensate fortheir comparatively smaller size, Armiger-class Knightstypically hunt in packs of two or three. In the case ofWarglaives, this involves rapidly outflanking and carapaceencirclingtheir quarry like wolves on the prowl, before closingin on a rune-mounted transmitted signal to trap andslaughter the enemy. Unusually for Knights, Armigersare not fitted with a full [[Throne Mechanicum]]. Instead they arecontrolled using a more compactdevice known as a '''[[Heavy StubberHelm Mechanicum]]''', which is significantly less prestigious than a standard Imperial Knight. This is compounded by the fact that, while Armigers can operateindependently, it is traditional for their Helms Mechanicum tobe neurally slaved to the command impulses of a larger Knight,rendering them subordinate. To accept such mental serfdom is topossess the rank of Bondsman, and while this is certainly no markof dishonour, it is far from glorious.{{Fn|23}} It is for these reasons that the piloting of Armigers falls to thosefrom the lower social strata of the Noble houses. Some give thisduty to distant relatives and minor offshoots of more establishedbloodlines, or the surviving Knights of a house that has fallenupon hard times. Others elevate the finest common-born warriorsfrom amongst their household guard or planetary militia forces,raising their families’ standing from mere peasantry to valued andrespected meritocracy. Still other Noble houses maintain specialistsub-orders of favoured retainers who are fated from birth to beArmiger pilots. Such is the case with House Griffith’s Order of theHound, who are inculcated with notions of faithful service andhonourable submission to a Noble’s will. These warriors are expertArmiger pilots who favour the close-quarters aggression of theWarglaive, and who stride into battle alongside their masters filledwith dogged determination to do their betters proud.
