Unlike their counter parts in other [[Imperium]] armies, Vexilus Praetors are infused with mysterious crypto-technological abilities that aid their brethren and allies in battle. What abilities come to the fore however, depend on the [[Space Marine Standards|Standard]] they carry into battle. Each vexilla is created on [[Terra]],painstakingly fashioned over a periodof one hundred years by the oath-swornartisans of the [[Tower Aquilane]]. Upon theircompletion, these beautiful standardsare borne amidst processions of craftthralls,[[Ministorum]] [[Priest]]s and [[servitor]]s to the [[Auric Eyrie]], wherethey are held upon stasis-podia untilrequired. Some vexillas are purely ritualin purpose, and are carried in processionand parade through the endless leaguesof the [[Imperial Palace]]. Most, however, incorporate potent technologies suitedspecifically for deployment upon the fieldof battle. Those vexillas carried by the veterans of theshield companies typically belong to one ofseveral patterns. More than just standardsto inspire adulation or terror, their inbuilttechnologies provide invaluable battlefieldsupport to the Custodians fighting intheir shadow.{{Fn|2}} The Vexillas beaming a constantly cycling set of the Praetors come in several patterns. These include the [[Vexilla Magnifica]], which offers the Custodes greater protection against ranged attacks, the [[Vexilla Imperius]], which increases the damage the Custodes' weapons deal in battledata-ident codes that convey strategic information with allied Imperial forces, and the [[Vexilla Defensor]], which offers some protection to their Imperium allies against ranged attacks.{{Fn|1}} In addition to these technological marvels,all vexillas incorporate empyricallyhardened teleport homers. These are mostcommonly used by the Adeptus Custodesto call aid in sudden strikes by fresh waves ofCustodians and vehiclestactical coordination.{{Fn|2}}
