In a typical [[Codex Chapter]], [[Space Marines]] are first assigned to a [[Devastator Squad]] after completing their initial service with the [[Scout Company]]. Only after mastering both aspects of war are such Marines eligible for promotion to a [[Tactical Squad]].{{Fn|2}}
