He went on to follow [[Talos Valcoran]] after The Exalted's sacrifice against the [[Red Corsairs]].{{Fn|2}} Mercutian favoured a [[Heavy Bolter]] in combat and proved loyal to Talos throughout his struggles. Later, Mercutian was killed on [[Tsagualsa]] by the [[Eldar]] [[Phoenix Lord]] [[Jain Zar]] during the attempt by [[UlthweUlthwé]] to assassinate Talos, hoping to buy time against the Eldar warrior to allow Talos time to escape.{{Fn|3}}
