The galaxy of the 41st millennium is one in which superstition holds sway. The masses of Humanity worship an array of saints and martyrs, and their faith in the God-Emperor is often the only factor the populations of any two worlds may have in common. At times of great portent, many have sworn to have witnessed the saints and martyrs returned to life to fight at the side of the living, lending their power once more to the eternal war against darkness.{{Fn|1}}
