 '''Praxor Manorian''' is a [[Space Marine Sergeant]] from the [[Ultramarines]]' 2nd Company, under [[Space Marine Captain|Captain]] [[Cato Sicarius]]. His [[Tactical Squad]], nicknamed "The Shield Bearers," boasts warriors equally skilled at both offense and defense, and has the honour of leading the vanguard of assaults for both the 2nd Company and the entire [[Chapter]].{{Fn|1a}}

During the [[Assault on Black Reach]] in 855 [[M41]]{{Fn|1b}}, the Shield Bearers were deployed to [[Black Reach]] with the rest of the Second Company against [[Waaagh!]] [[Zanzag]]. As one of Sicarius's most fervent admirers{{Fn|2a}}, Manorian was wounded when Sicarius ordered him and Tactical Squad [[Iulus Fennion|Fennion]], along with [[Devastator Squad]] [[Tirian]] to garrison the newly-liberated Ghospora Hive against a possible counter-attack, while the rest of the Company was tasked to hunt down Zanzag.

During the attack of the [[Bloodborn]] on [[Ultramar]], in 854999.M41{{Fn|1b}}, the 2nd Company was deployed to [[Espandor]]. Still smarting over the perceived slight on Black Reach, Manorian was eager for his squad to be assigned an offensive role and fight at Sicarius's side.{{Fn|3a}}

When Sicarius led the 2nd Company to [[Corinth (city)|Corinth]] to attack the enemy force's headquarters, Squad Manorian was assigned to hold the city's northern gate and prevent reinforcements from reaching the Captain's force. In effect, this pitted the Shield Bearers against the whole of the enemy force outside the headquarters, a task which Manorian's fellow sergeants said he accepted eagerly.{{Fn|3b}}
