BL (Black Library) Publishing is the official publishing house of [[Games Workshop|Games Workshop Games]]. They produced many books and magazines in support of the various Games Workshop games and were even responsible for some [[Black Library gaming|miniaturs]].
Black Library was originally created in 1997 with the creation of by Rick Priestley, Andy Jones, and Marc Gascoigne. Together, they created [[Black Library Magazines#Inferno!|Inferno!]] magazine. This featured short stories and later lead to the creation of [[Black Library Magazines#Warhammer Monthly|Warhammer Monthly]] and the various Novels. Later, the Black Library picked up the [[Black Library Magazines#Citadel Journal|Citadel Journal]] magazine and discontinued the two others. The literary magazines elaborated on many traditional aspects of the Warhammer 40,000 game and created brand new concepts, even introducing some of their own [[Black Library gaming|gaming materials]] for the various games.
