The Cult of Truth was a Chaos Cult active on the planet Stratos.1
History
The Cult started out as a just another minor group of insurrectionists, but at some point they suddenly swelled in numbers and led an extremely coordinated uprising. The planet's PDF and local Imperial Guard Regiments responded, but were overwhelmed and forced out of the major loft-cities.1
Despite having the clear upper hand in the war, the Cult pulled back and consolidated their hold on the capital loft-city, Cirrion. The Astra Militarum were able to retake the other two major loft-cities of Stratos, Nimbaros and Cumulon, but couldn't break past the Cult's defences in Cirrion. Fortunately for the Imperial forces, the Salamanders Third Company responded to Governor Varkoff's pleas for assistance. The Salamanders assaulted Cirrion, enduring several ambushes and eventually making their way to the Cult's headquarters in Aura Hieron.1
The Salamanders assassinated the Cult's leader, a mysterious figure known as the Speaker, but it transpired that the Cult was supported by the Chaos Sorcerer Nihilan, who triggered a Chaos ritual and summoned a Daemon using the Speaker's body as a host. Although Captain Ko'tan Kadai was able to banish the daemon back to the Warp, one of the surviving cultists killed Kadai with a multi-melta and Nihilan escaped.1
Following this, the Cult was purged by the combined Imperial forces. Unbeknownst to the Imperials, Nihilan was using actually using the Cult as a cover for his warband's activities on Stratos - in particular their search for a device known as the decyphrex.1
