Although the Death Eagles are believed to trace their origins back to the Raven Guard through an indeterminate founding{{Fn|1}}, they bear some similarities to a group of [[Emperor's Children]] active during the [[Horus Heresy]]. The 34th 34^th Millennial of the Legion, also known as the Death Eagles, remained loyal to the Imperium during the conflict while retaining the purple and gold colours of their Legion; their ultimate fate is unknown.{{Fn|5}}
