In the [[Horus Heresy]], Aeska fought in the [[Battle of Prospero]]{{fnFn|2c}} and later the [[Battle of Yarant]]. It was rumoured he had been taken from [[Yarant]] barely alive, leaving his face scarred on one side and requiring extensive reconstruction including a bionic eye, a metal plate bolted onto his skull, and a bionic hand.{{fnFn|1a}}
