In the assault on [[Caligula]], Caffran was on a [[troop-ship]] which was shot down by a [[Psyker|psychic storm]] over [[Nero Hive]]. Thanks to the leadership of Colonel-Commissar Gaunt, the survivors of the crash managed to make it off Caligula and reunite with the rest of the Crusade.{{Fn|3b}}
Later Caffran was part of the team selected by Colonel-Commissar Gaunt to accompany him on a [[Edicule|secret mission]] on [[Menazoid Epsilon]].{{Fn|1d}}
