==Biography==Seven years before the [[Siege of Vervunhive]], Bulwar commanded a contingent that saw action against a rebellion in the NorthCol colonies on the primary moon of [[Verghast]].{{Fn|1a}} In the initial stages of the Siege itself, Bulwar was the commanding officer of a NorthCol division stationed at the [[Veyveyr Gate]] in the southernmost part of the [[Vervunhive|Vervunhive's]] defensive wall. He worked alongside [[Colonel]] [[Modile]] and [[Major]] [[Jun Racine|Racine]] of the [[Vervun Primary]] and [[Colonel]] [[Colm Corbec]] of the [[Tanith First and Only]].{{Fn|11a}} Bulwar and Corbec privately came to the agreement that, although Modile was the officer in charge of the defence, his lack of combat experience was a weakness that could cause problems. In light of this, they decided to arrange a signal between them (''Anvil'', based on Bulwar's old callsign) should they need to abandon Modile's orders and assist each other directly.{{Fn|1a}} Their suspicions proved correct when the Zoicans led their Second Storm of the hive; Modile cracked under the pressure, panicking and ignoring his subordinates' suggestions in favour of his own, ineffective plans.{{Fn|1b}}{{Fn|1c}}
