Daox Glykas is a Cruor Blades Watch Captain, who commands the Eye of Octos Watch Fortress' Watch Company Secundus.1
History
In M42, the Eye of Octos learned of a crown-like device created by the Ork King Mek Baddkrasha, that allowed him to disrupt the synopses used by the Tyranid species. By disrupting their ability to be controlled and coordinated by the Hive Mind, Baddkrasha was able to break and destroy numerous Tyranid swarms. Watch Captain Glykas led his Watch Company in taking the device, which resulted in the King Mek's death. Afterwards he brought the crown to the Eye of Octos' ally Inquisitor Athocles Van Roth, with Baddkrasha's head still attached to it. Due to Van Roth's intense hatred of Xenos and his desire to see them destroyed, Glykas thought the Inquisitor could make use of the crown. After seeing Pict-recordings of the device in action against the Tyranids, Van Roth felt he finally had the means to end the Octarius War. He now only needed to master how to use the device. In order to do so, Roth gathered an army, which included Glykas' Watch Company, and traveled to the Tyranid and Ork infested Maiden World Veloria. Once there, he began to experiment on the invading Tyranids, in order to master the use of Baddkrasha's Crown.1
However disaster struck, when a large number of Ork warships, suddenly appeared in Veloria's orbit. With their fleet being forced to withdraw from the Maiden World, the Inquisitor's forces were left stranded. Only too late, did Van Roth realize, that Baddkrasha's Crown drew Orks to it, every time it was used. However Van Roth then came up with a plan that would use the Crown to draw the newly arrived Orks into the Tyranids on Veloria. Once this was done, Van Roth would destroy a wrecked Eldar Haven Spire, that lay near their camp. The Space Station's destruction, would then block the only entrance to Van Roth's camp and give them time to be evacuated. Glykas was among those, who had concerns about the plan, due to how it could fail. The Watch Captain even argued for leaving the Crown behind, so they could escape, but Van Roth refused to do so. In the end, though, Glykas was convinced to follow Van Roth's plan. It hit a snag, though, when Van Roth learned how confusing the layout of the Haven Spire could be. This required him to make an alliance with a number of Eldar, who still lived within the Haven Spire. In return for evacuating them as well from Veloria, the Eldar would lead them activate the Haven Spire's self destruct sequence. When they learned of this, the bulk of the higher ranks of Glykas' Watch Company refused to work with the Eldar. They argued doing so would taint them with the Xenos' filth and Van Roth's plan had little chance of success. However the Librarian Heathobar convinced him to follow the Inquisitor's plan. The Librarian explained, this would give them the best chance to prevent the Orks from reclaiming the Crown. He warned, though, that Van Roth needed to be watched over do to his increasingly disturbing behavior. Glykas agreed on both counts and the Watch Company readied itself to aid in Van Roth's plan.1
Glykas was among his Watch Company, that entered the Haven Spire, alongside the Eldar and some of Inquisitor Van Roth's forces. They then separated into groups in order to better increase their chances, as the Haven Spire was infested with Tyranids. Meanwhile a portion of Glykas' Watch Company, carried Baddkrasha's Crown to draw the approaching Orks into the nearby Tyranid swarms. Only Van Roth's group was able to reach and activate the Haven Spire's self-destruct sequence, though. The fate of Glykas was unknown, but it was likely the Watch Captain's group was killed by the Tyranids within the Haven Spire. Even with Van Roth's success, however, the Inquisitor discovered that the Orks had already overrun his camp. With his fleet also being destroyed by the Xenos, Van Roth now knew no one would be able to escape.1
