Each Imperial World is required to possess local militia raised by every world military forces for its own defence. The PDF are commonly equipped and organized on similar lines to also acts as a source of trained soldiers for the [[Imperial Guard]], though like the Imperial Guard the PDF has a vast variety and each world equips and arms its PDF regiments differently.
