For centuries, Luteus Alpha produced materiel for the Imperial armies which fought wars in the Armageddon Sector. This drew attention to the planet, however, and it fell victim to a massive Ork invasion led by [[Ogruk Gutrekka]]. Remnants of [[Astra Militarum]] troops as well as a local [[Genestealer Cult]] continued to offer some resistance, but Luteus Alpha became a ''de facto'' [[Ork World]].{{Fn|2}}
Shortly after his victory Gutrekka made a major mistake, however, when he stole the favorite [[Hairy Squig|Hair Squig]] of a [[Flash Git]] named [[Gargaz Teefgrabba]] and then threw him out of his Mega-Bomba. Furious, Gargaz promptly ventured to a [[Goff]] camp located near his crash site, killed the local [[Nob]], took command of his horde and launched an invasion of the still human-held Hive City{{Fn|1}} of Luteus Prime.{{Fn|2}} He intended to capture a spaceship there to chase after Gutrekka, intending to kill him and retake his Hair Squig.{{Fn|1}}
