Construction
'''Flak Armour''' is a the amongst the most basic forms of armour in the galaxy.
==Construction==
Flak Armour consists of multiple layers of different ablative and impact absorbant materials designed primarily to deflect shrapnel and ricochet material and resist weaker forms of energy blasts, rather than to protect against a direct impact. Some layers commonly used include Carbon-fibre, Plasfibre and Thermoplas strips although an number of specialist materials can be intergrated in non-standard suits. The [[Imperial Guard]] , for example , will occassionally layer Flak Armour with thermal-absorbant materials, applied to reduce the thermal signature of the infantry, helping with staying invisible during night recon missions. Rarer still, Cameleoline can be incorporated into the outermost layer of some Imperial Guard Regiments fatigues providing yet more concealment.
Although it is relatively ineffective armour, it is cheap and easy to make, requiring only a low technology base, making amongst putting it among the most popular in the galaxy with a variety of races.
