The Legio Venator (Iron Spiders)3 is an Imperial Titan Legion12 based on the M'khand3 or Opus Macharius.4aConflicting sources. It was originally based on the world of Arachnus6.
Overview
Despite the previous conflict, over the Great Crusade their forces gained a sense of pride in brotherhood and unity, a belief at odds with those left behind on Arachnus. During the Cataclysm of Iron the Legion split between the 2/3rds of loyalists waging the Great Crusade and the remaining 1/3rd on Arachnus that pledged themselves to the Dark Mechanicum, becoming known as the Legio Tritonis.56 After this, the loyalist Legio Venator used their secondary forge-fortress of M'Khand as their primary fortress. When Arachnus was reclaimed at the end of the Heresy M'Khand remained their home due to the devastation and corruption wrought upon Arachnus.6
Titans
At the time of its discovery by the Imperium, the Legio Venator fielded some 134 Titans, including two Imperators. Of these, only 54 Titans and a single Imperator survived the Arachnus conflict. However by the time of the Horus Heresy most of its strength had been rebuilt, but by 011.M31 following the splintering of the Legion, the loyalist elements were reduced to 67 Titans. Of these, most were Reavers and Warhounds. Over the Heresy M'Khand worked tirelessly to build larger Titans, while the Legio Venator also managed to capture many during the Cataclysm of Iron.6

Trivia
Trivia
Conflicting sources
In Imperial Armour Volume One - Second Edition: Imperial Guard the home of Legio Venator is said to be M'khand but in Dark Heresy: The Lathe Worlds their home is said to be Opus Macharius. This could be a conflict but it is possible that either the legio moved homeworlds or they occupy them both.
The Legion's homeworld history changes changed again with the Horus Heresyseries, when it is said that it was founded on the world of Arachnus with M'khand acting as a secondary fortress. However due to the events of the Heresy, M'khand remained the home of the loyalist portion of the Legion even after the conflict.6
