The [[Knight World]] is also ruled by a single [[High King|High Monarch]] and the Houses' high ranking Nobles each have a vote, when a successor is chosen. Their votes are equal in number, but Dominion's [[Arch-Maintenancer]] get to vote as well. As each House will vote for a candidate that favors them, it is often the Arch-Maintenancer's swing vote that will decide the next High Monarch. This ability has allowed Dominion's Sacristans to prevent civil war from breaking out on the Knight World on numerous occasions.{{Fn|1a}}
