Temel was a Flesh Tearers Captain and was among its forces, that Chapter Master Gabriel Seth led to the aid of the Imperial world Nekkaris, in late M41.1
History
This was after the Demagogue Gylon began a Chaos Cult uprising, with the assistance of the Chaos Lord Da'ka Jumoke's Warband. They had seized Nekkaris' capital and in order to end the rebellion, the Flesh Tearers began advancing upon it with the besieged world's military forces. However before the Imperials could reach the capital, the Cult and Warband launched a continuous artillery barrage from armored vehicles, which stopped the advance cold. Even with the Flesh Tearers' might, they would not be able to survive the Chaos forces' rate of fire and so Captain Temel was selected to lead a group of Scouts to destroy the artillery in a set time limit. Doing so, would then allow the Imperials to reach the capital and end the rebellion. The Scout Sergeants Cophi, Eschiros and Viritiel aided him in the dangerous mission and they left the main force behind, as they began advancing into Chaos held territory. They would suffer losses along the way, but Temel always ordered the Scouts to advance, in order to complete their mission on time. Those Scouts too wounded to continue were left behind with Locator Beacons, so they could be found after the mission was over. Those who died, however, had their tongues' cut off and collected by Sergeants, for safe keeping. This was a tradition from the Flesh Tearers' Homeworld Cretacia, that the Chapter's Scouts practiced and which claimed doing so would prevent the dead from betraying the survivors to the enemy.1

It was on the third day of their mission, that Temel and the Scouts finally reach the Chaos artillery. They would split up to ensure all the vehicles were planted with bombs and Scout Sergeant Cophi's squadron aided the Captain. As he began stealthy planting explosives, the Scouts guided Temel on their comm links, so that he avoid the patrolling Chaos forces. One such group, prevented Temel from reaching the final vehicles in his area. As the rest of the Scouts elsewhere would soon set of their explosives, Temel knew he was out of time and broke cover to finish his mission. While Cophi was able to destroy the Chaos group that confronted the Captain, this alerted the other forces to their position and they were attacked. Temel meanwhile, was able to finish planting the explosives, but knew he would not be able to reach safety before the rest of the Scouts would activate their bombs. Sergeant Cophi held his group's activator and Temel told him to do so, even though the Captain was still close to the artillery vehicles.1

The resulting explosion successfully destroyed the artillery, but left Temel impaled into the ground by a piece of metal. Though he hated the fact he would need to spend time in a Re-juve Sarcophagus, they had completed their mission on time. After Cophi and Eschiros found him, Temel contacted Seth and told him the Imperials could begin their advance on Nekkaris' capital. However the Chapter Master informed Temel, that the attack had been called off, as the Blood Angels had called the Flesh Tearers to aid them in the Cryptus Campaign. The Tyranids of Hive Fleet Leviathan threatened Baal itself and Seth feared that if it fell, then his efforts to bring his Chapter back from the brink would all be for naught. Even as they spoke, the Flesh Tearers' forces were returning to their warships and Seth informed Temel that no efforts would be made to recover the Captain or the Scouts. Though this is a hammer blow to Temel, but his sense of duty and honor harden his mind against the shock. Instead the Captain informed Seth that he must not let this decision weigh upon him or define who he was. They were the Sons of Sanguinius and their Primarch's sacrifice had forged their brotherhoods and lied at the core of who they were.1

The Chapter Master cut the link without replying and Temel informed the Scout Sergeants of Seth's decision. While Cophi was angered by this, but the Captain says that it is Seth that will suffer the burden of his decision, as they will be too dead to care. And after all, the Captain continued, did the Flesh Tearers not serve the Emperor and Sanguinius, by killing and dying in their names? This caused the Sergeants to accept their fates and Eschiros then informed them that they must leave, as more Chaos forces were nearing their position. Temel knew though, that with his Chapter now gone, there was no hope that he would survive his injuries. He instead told the Scout Sergeants to escape with their surviving forces and do what they can to aid the Imperials on Nekkaris. But before they go, the Captain honors the Scout's traditions by cutting off his tongue with Cophi's combat knife. He then gave it to the Scout Sergeant, while Eschiros handed Temel a Heavy Bolter and told him Chaplain Appollus's favored axiom of "Kill until killed". The Scouts then left and the Captain's thoughts are consumed by his approaching death and the deaths he will reap before he died. Moments later Temel opened fire as the Chaos forces neared his position, while mentally yelling words he had screamed a thousand times before - "I am vengeance. I am fury. I am wrath".1
