Varlak was a [[rogue psyker]] whose immense powers became evident when he spoke in public. Able to easily sway entire audiences to his way of thinking, he could convince even the otherwise loyal that every word he spoke, no matter how seditious, was utter truth.{{Fn|1b}}  Due to his inhuman charisma his rise in popularity was meteoric, ascending to soon assuming the position of [[Planetary Governor]].{{Fn|12}} He eventually declared Declaring himself "World-Autarch" of [[Korsk II]], and Varlak announced Korsk's secession from the Imperiumin 995.M41. Varlak was a {{Fn|1a}}{{Fn|1b}}  [[Rogue psykerInquisitor]] whose powers became evident when he spoke in public, able to easily sway entire audiences to his way of thinking, and convince even the otherwise loyal that every word he spoke, no matter how seditious, was utter truth. An [[InquisitorMarcus]] was on the planet at the time called on and, realising the forces severity of the situation, sounded the alarm to the [[Adeptus Terra]]. This prompted rapid response from the [[Space Wolves]], [[Dark Angels]], [[Blood Angels]], and [[Ultramarines]], who made planetfall days later.{{Fn|1b}}  Though powerful, Varlak was erratic and unhinged. Not expecting such a sudden response from the Imperium, Varlak became crazed, constantly suspecting treachery and summarily executing his followers. {{Fn|1a}}  In the end, the revolution was destroyed and Varlak ended up as a pool of liquefied flesh. at the hands of the [[Space Wolves]], and the populace was released from his psychic yoke.{{Cite this}}
Though reported dead, Inquisitor [[Darius]] suspected that Varlak had in fact managed to escape to [[Necromunda]]. On 705997.M41 the Inquisitor reported that Varlak had been operating on the planet under the alias of the '''Grand Dog''' {{Fn|1}}
