Its primary use is to destroy all manner of unholy matter such as [[daemonOrdo Malleus]]s and [[warpGrey Knights]] spawn. In short, it is a special form of [[Bolter]] It uses psychically impregnated bolts which is ritually blessed by both its Magos creators of the are primarily useful against psychic creatures such as [[Adeptus Mechanicus]] under the [[Machine God]], and by a member of the [[Ecclesiarchy]] in the name of the God [[Emperordaemon]]s. Each bolt is also inscribed with all manner of anti-daemonic symbols such as protection wards and banishment rites. Coupled with the psychically charged weapon, this makes for a devestating power against Chaos. It is used mainly by the [[Daemonhunters]] [[Grey Knights]] army and [[Inquisitor]]s of the [[Ordo Malleus]].

The Psycannon can also be used in conjunction with a device called a [[Mind Impulse Unit]]. The psycannon Psycannon is directly linked to the neural stream mind of the user and can be used upon the whim of a thoughtis fired by mental intent. This has two advantages: it gives the user a time advantage as their opponent will not realise they are about to fire on them. Also, if the user is psychically able, they can infuse their own power with that of the weapon, adding to its already devastating effect.
