[[Angron]] didn't manage to make it as far east as Hive Acheron and so it took no part in the First War.{{Cite this}}
===Second War for Armageddon===
Acheron became the last bastion of human power on Armageddon. The population were preparing themselves for one last fight but just as the [[Orks]] were charging, vast holes were blown in their ranks as an orbital bombardment began and large numbers of Space Marines were dropped via [[Drop Pod]]. In the end little damage was done to Acheron and it became Commander [[Dante]]'s temporary field headquarters. From this time on Acheron was no longer under threat.{{Cite this}}
===Third War for Armageddon===By the time of the Third War, Acheron was the seat of Armageddon's planetary government and of many of the planet's [[Noble House]]s.{{Fn|4}}
With the fall of Acheron to the Orks by the treachery of [[Herman von Strab]], Imperial forces were pushed on to the defensive and forced to maintain a perimiter. Weeks later Space Marine detachments were finally brought in and landed by [[Thunderhawks]]. They succeeded in recapturing several areas around the main Hive, including Acheron Bridge and Von Strab's Memorial Arch however the Hemlock Cordon was overrun by the Orks of the [[Blackskulls Tribe]] from the Hemlock River Tunnel. This forced the Imperial armies to attack the Hive itself as their escape route had been cut off and Ork reinforcements were rapidly approaching in the form of [[Kroksnik's Deth Traks]].{{Fn|3}}

*Many of the settlements of Armageddon are named for dark figures or places associated with either the end of the world or the afterlife in various mythologies. In this case, Hive Acheron is named for [[Wikipedia:Acheron|Acheron]], the "river of woe", one of the five rivers that led to the Underworld in Ancient Greek mythology.
