==History==

During the [[Octarius War]], they conducted numerous destabilization missions against [[Hive Fleet Leviathan]] within the [[Octarian Empire]]. Because of their experience fighting the [[Xenos]], the 17th Xien Pythons were among the [[Imperial]] forces that [[Inquisitor]] [[Athocles Van Roth]] recruited in [[M42]]. The Inquisitor then used this force to defend himself, as he sought to master using [[Baddkrasha's Crown]] on the [[Ork]] and [[Tyranid]] infested [[Maiden World]] [[Veloria]]. However using the Xenos device, drew numerous Ork warships to the Crown's location and Van Roth's forces were overrun.{{Fn|1}}
