Magog was a binary pulsar system, with a radiation swept storm zone.{{Fn|2a}} It had only one inhabitable planet, also called [[Magog (Planet)|Magog]].{{Fn|1a}}

Before the [[Hadex Anomaly]] manifested in 656.[[M40]], the Magog system was under the control of the [[Imperium]]. Since then, it was drawn into and exited from the anomaly countless times, as the anomaly expanded and receded.{{Fn|1a}}{{Fn|1b}}

At the start of the [[Achilus Crusade]]'s [[Acheros Salient]], [[Imperial]] forces suffered heavy losses, the worst of which was the loss of the [[Storm Wardens]]' [[Battlebarge]] ''[[Warchilde]]'', which was left as a [[hulk]] drifting in orbit within the Magog System's storm zone.{{Fn|2a}}
