Lictor

They are known for devouring their prey's brains to assimilate its genetic material. Their typical armament is two pairs of enormous scythe-like talons and rending claws.
Often referred Lictors rove ahead of Tyranid ground swarms seeking out pockets of enemy resistance and native lifeforms to as be absorbed. They are intelligient and possess highly developed sensory organs so they can see, smell, hear and taste their prey long before it becomes aware of their presence. Lictors appear to be a specialist mutation of the "Mantis Killer"Tyranid Warriors and are highly adapted to survive in hostile environments and a stalker/predator role. Stalking Lictors exude a pheremone trail which draws other Tyranid creatures in their wake. A larger concentration of prey stimulates a stronger pheromone response and brings a larger group of trailing tyranids.

The '''Death Leaper'''<sup>2</sup> is strain of the [[Lictor]] genus found on [[Medusa V]]. Like the normal lictor it is found roving ahead of the [[Tyranid]] swarms but has the ability to camouflage itself in such a way it can become almost completely invisible.
[[Ultramarines]] [[sergeant]] Erasmus believes these Death Leapers are an evolutionary step for the Tyranids. It is feared that when the Tyranids are able to re-absorb the Death Leapers and reproduce them, the Tyranid vanguard will become virtually undetectable.
