Mag-trains1, which are also known as Mag-trans2 and Maglevs,5a are mile-long1 magnetic Imperial vehicles that travel on fixed rail routes.25a
Description
Mag-trains are used by the Imperium to transport people, vehicles3 or resources across a world's surface.1 They are also used for the same purpose within Imperial spaceships.4 The vehicles are composed of a leading drive cabin and then the many carriages that are connected to it and each other5a, through the use of couplings. The drive cabins contain the Mag-trains' control panels, which are a tangle of levers, wheels and intricately carved dials. When their Machine Spirits are roused5b, the vehicles' magnetic technology causes their grooved suspensor plates to suspend the Mag-trains an inch above their railing. The Mag-trains' propulsion drives then push them forward at incredible speeds on their routes.5a In fact, should a carriage be separated from a moving Mag-train, it will likely be hours or even days, before enough friction finally causes the carriage to stop.5b
