'''Van Grothe's Rapidity''' is a [[Warp Rift]]{{Fn|1}} located in the [[Ultima Segmentum]]{{Fn|2}} in the [[Medusa system]].{{Fn|23a}} Not technically part of the [[Medusa system]], the Rapidity is the reason for the settling and creation of the [[Medusa V]] situation. It is expanding rapidly and threatens to engulf a large area of the region. It also has the name of Hell's Slingshot due to the ability to sling shot ships through it in order to gain vast speeds and reduce travel times. It was originally found in '''241.[[M37]]''' by [[Carral Van Grothe]] who went on to found the Medusa colonies. Originally its status was Stable and Threat level Not-Classified, but has recently changed to status Unstable - Malefic Ultra and Threat level Omega due to the recent growth.{{Fn|3a}} It is said to destroy Medusa V within weeks or months.{{Fn|3b}}
