Overview
Gue'vesa Human auxiliary troopers are often a fairly common sight along the descendants western fringes of Tau space, in particular on those worlds contested during the Damocles Gulf Crusade. The Tau proved a hardier foe than anticipated by Imperial Guard troops whoforces and, as the offensive stalled, during they were forced to hurriedly withdraw in response to the far greater threat presented by the arrival of Damocles CrusadeHive Fleet Behemoth, were abandoned in nearby sectors.1 Gue'la throughout the empire are often the descendants of those abandoned Imperial Guard space and chose to join troops or the colonies captured in the Tau rather than face executionaftermath of their defenders' retreat. For them, fate has had dictated that the Imperial Cult and the rule of the Adeptus Terra be replaced by loyalty to the collectivist Tau Empire and to the ruling Ethereal caste.1
Human auxiliary troopers Those humans who have embraced the Greater Good in this way are provided with the technology required to prevail on the Tau frontier and granted limited production capabilities, allowing them to construct equipment ranging from simple farming tools to a fairly common sight along copy of the western fringes standard issue Imperial lasgun. In times of war, the Tau spaceallow the Gue'vesa access to more advanced weaponry such as Pulse rifles, in particular on those worlds contested during Pulse Carbines and other, more specialized equipment including gear like Markerlights, EMP Grenades, and tranquility wafers. These auxiliaries have become a (usually) respected part of the Damocles Crusade. The Tau proved military, filling a hardier foe than anticipated by tactical niche between the Imperial forces barbaric Kroot andthe mainstay of Tau armies, as the offensive became stalledFire Warrior teams. Gue'vesa may lack the close combat savagery of the Kroot but they are fully capable of using the more advanced examples of Tau technology, they were forced to withdraw in response zealously doing so to further the far greater threat presented by cause of the arrival of Hive Fleet BehemothGreater Good in nearby sectors.17
This rapid redeployment left many human soldiers stranded, a situation soon exploited by the famous Commander FarsightTau attitudes towards Gue'vesa vary wildly from individual to individual and sept to sept. Humans are often regarded as he followed in dangerous, passionate, ancient, or crooked.7 Some leaders call them more than mercenaries but less than trusted allies, while others are closer to their subordinate humans than fellow Tau.6b7 At its worst the wake Tau uncertainty around humanity has lead to atrocities like the stark choice massacre Gue'vesa following the Tau empire or a bleak future as prisoners Fourth and Fifth Sphere of being stranded many light years from home in a hostile and foreign regionExpansion289, involuntary re-education, many saw no alternative. These warriors 11 and their offspring now maintain colonies rumored mass sterilizations on the frontiers of Tau space, content under their new masters yet nonetheless apprehensive of among others, Kronus,10 Phaedra,5 and ImperialVelk'Han retribution should they face another crusadeSept.111
