Dolan called for the immediate surrender of Bucharis and ordered him to resign his position and throw himself on the mercy of the Emperor. Most importantly, he had to renounce his heresies and apostate idea of self-deliverance. Not likely, thought Bucharis. The messengers remains were nailed to the gates of the Palace. Dolan would be coming to Gathalamor soon, and Bucharis wanted his slaves to see their savior to be bound with chains and whipped through the streets. The Confessor was taken into custody as he entered the system and charged with various heresies against the Emperor, all of which were false. Dolen was then chained and forced through the streets. Bucharis' army whipped and kicked and tortured Dolan constantly. The crowds however were not so impressed. There were no cheers of approval, but there were no cries of condemnation either. Dolen was dragged across the entire continent in this manor for over six months. All the while however, his fiery stare would not diminish and he never bowed to Bucharis. Bucharis then ordered a public trial, but it was totally rigged and would find Dolan guilty. After five months, the prosecution had finished and a thousand worlds waited for the results. Dolen represented himself and freely admitted to stirring up the people of all of the rebellious world to fight against Bucharis. He used the time to appeal to the masses, although Bucharis didn't see this. It was this speech that Bucharis allowed that eventually led to his downfall. Bucharis tortured Dolan for eight months, before his body was finally tossed over the walls of the Palace for the scavenging dogs to gnaw at. His body had been maimed beyond recognition, although his face showed a peaceful serenity. Many wept for him, even though they knew they would be charged as heretics and executed. The carrion eaters never got their meal though, as the body disappeared and was never found.
