During the [[Great Crusade]] and [[Horus Heresy]], the 22nd [[Chapter]] of the [[Ultramarines]] [[Space Marine Legion|Legion]] was known as the '''Nemesis Chapter''', specialising in [[Exterminatus]] operations.{{Fn|4c}} The 22nd was a patchwork of specialised units, most notably maintaining [[Nemesis Destroyer|two full companies]] of the [[Destroyer Marine|Destroyer squads]] rarely found in the other Chapters, and had a large [[Terra]]n contingent - this resulted in a culture which [[Roboute Guilliman|Guilliman]] considered too far removed from the rest of the Legion.{{Fn|5b}}
The Chapter earned their name during the purgation of [[abhuman]] [[Pirate|corsairs]] in the [[Cancerai Nebula]] alongside the [[Night Lords|VIII Legion]]. As well as the name "Nemesis", they took to wearing black gauntlets, midnight blue helms and adopted the weighing scales and death's head icon of judgement.{{Fn|4c}}
