::::The trivia help section says bugger all about using it as a backdoor to present fan-made content. Which a paint scheme definitely is. To be quite clear: there is a world of difference between using product images like blister/box/unpainted mini photos and painted mini photos. Because one is a documentation of (more or less depending on the state of conservation) original state while the other is a completely personal and far reaching personal interpretation. There is also a very good reason why the image upload help clearly states "Only images from accepted sources should be used. There are very few exceptions from this rule that only apply in very specific circumstances, so as a general rule just use accepted sources as described in the corresponding Help article. If you think you have a valid reason to request a dispensation or exemption from this rule discuss the issue beforehand with an Administrator or Bureaucrat." And apart from that there is the whole other issue of people not being happy at all when somebodÿ takes their private images to use them somewhere else. And while I have in the past already reached out to SoL and Mr Hale about potential collaborations I have not received any answer. So no, please do not re-upload painted private miniature photos for use in articles. You can however link to their archived original page on SoL (or similar projects) under Trivia - in the case of such obscure miniatures. --Inquisitor S., Großmeister des Ordo Lexicanum (talk) 07:18, 17 June 2024 (UTC)
:::::So i take it from what you just said, that While SoL stuff is off limit for the Trivia section (because always painted), the CCM wiki pictures are, on the contrary perfectly fine, because it's always unpainted pictures of miniatures ? Also, i removed all the Redwart pictures from the article.--Siegfriedfr (talk) 14:36, 17 June 2024 (UTC)
Central preservation of removed external links
Hello, it is obviously very good that you replace web sources with "proper" print sources. But can you please dump the removed links somewhere on a central page, thank you. They can still be very useful for tracking down archived versions of dead web links. --Inquisitor S., Großmeister des Ordo Lexicanum (talk) 07:26, 17 June 2024 (UTC)
:I'm not following you there. What is the use of a warcom article link that sums up what is more properly written in the "original" source ?
:Let me be clear, i'm all for keeping links of war com for everything that cannot be recovered from a printed source (more often that not, miniatures-related, something i have been steadily doing for years in pictures' source description).
:But for Lore ? I firmly believe that Lore articles should never have been written from war com in the first place (unless it's forever and only available there), because:
:1) war com is often a very incomplete version of the source material with added PR superlatives and sometimes innacurate unit description (ie they will use a naming scheme slightly different from the source material).
:2) the lexi article created from a war com source is then abandoned by the original creator because "work done", which creates additional work for anyone that comes after.
:You have to understand that creating additional busy work such as keeping not-that-useful-links (and from my pow, not necessary for aforementione reasons), is not cool. :/ When i updated many articles, saving time and clicks is always welcome. Time is precious!--Siegfriedfr (talk) 14:36, 17 June 2024 (UTC)
