The '''Bell of Lost Souls''' is located on [[Terra]] at the peak of the [[Tower of Heroes]]. It is ancient, like most of the equipment on Terra, and as big as a building. It is also covered in runes and its sound is said to be like the scream of an anguished god. It is sounded when a great hero of the Imperium dies. The sound of the bell lasts for a long time and reaches the ears of millions of the inhabitants of Terra.<sup>1</sup>
The bell was rung one thousand times to honour each dead marine when the [[Fire Hawks]] [[Chapter]] was lost.<sup>2,</sup> <sup>3</sup> This may possibly indicate that each Space Marine is a great hero of the Imperium, in which case the bell must have been sounded millions of times.
