These crude devices can only fire once before reloading and prone to failure. Slow, inaccurate and unreliable, they are only made and used on backwards planets12; the planet Birmingham is one of the more known of these.1 However, they are extremely easy to construct and maintain. For this reason they are know to be quite popular among outlaw members of Hive societies such as the Ratskins and Scalies of the Necromundan underhives.4 The Planetary Defense Forces of Feral and Feudal Worlds also sometimes make use of muskets.3
Siskan “Father Shot” Musket
The reliable, beautiful yet gruesome Siskan “Father Shot” Musket is made from a human thighbone, traditionally sourced from the wielder’s ancestor and is highly sought after in many noble circles. It uses an iron-capped tooth as its striking mechanism and has a reputation for lucky hits. The musket is also produced by poorer artificers from bones brought in by well-paying off-worlders.5
