Vespid is a Gas giant with dark violet-hued skies, filled with continuous and violent storms.{{Fn|1}}

Most of Vespid is uninhabitable. However the stormy stratosphere provides a thin layer that can sustain life. In the upper layers float islands of rock. These islands float due to the lighter gases trapped within them. These islands tend to be cone-shaped with flat tops, the lighter gases collecting at the top and valuable crystal formations (the basis of Vespid technology) toward the bottom (which only the larger female Vespids have the constitution to reach and harvest these crystals). The Vespid tunnel out these islands to form their living spaces. Some Vespid, however live lower and higher in the atmosphere.{{Fn|1}}
