*Cerberus, the name adopted by Loken after the battle of Isstvan III, is the dog who guards the Underworld in classical mythology. Torgaddon joked that it was an appropriate appellation for Loken, the last Luna Wolf standing sentry over the graveyard of Isstvan III.6
*The quote "I was there, the day Horus slew the Emperor." is a bait-and-switch with pinches of dark irony. The quote comes from one of the first novels of the Horus Heresy series, but does not refer to the Heresy itself, but to an Imperium-sanctioned conquest close to the start of the Great Crusade against Sixty-Three-Nineteen, a human polity that had its own Emperor. At the time of stating it, Garviel could not begin to conceive that this quote would become prophecy instead of stating a past fact.
